What to budget

The room prices countertops the way we bid them: the slabs, the install, sink and cooktop cutouts, the backsplash, and tearing out the old tops. Three kitchens to start from; add a run or an island in the room and the number moves with it.

Your price comes from a free walkthrough. Your quote comes from a walkthrough, not a price list. We flag hillside stair access, narrow residential parking, old cabinet runs, and non-standard counter depths up front: transparent pricing, never a surprise on install day.

How we build it

Template

Laser templating on-site, 60 to 90 minutes. We capture every out-of-square wall and cabinet quirk so the slab drops in tight.

Fabricate

Slab cut to spec at our partner fab shop, 3 to 5 business days. East Bay fabricators keep lead times tight on Bay Area jobs.

Install

Install day runs 4 to 8 hours. Sink and faucet back online next day once the adhesive cures. One team, no juggling.

One team, start to finish

Template, fabrication coordination, install, and plumbing reconnect all handled under one contract. No fabricator-vs-plumber finger-pointing when something goes wrong.

What we will not do

Slab over existing tile

Installing quartz or granite over old tile countertops never works. The substrate is uneven, overhang support is compromised, and the seam reveal always cracks within a year. We demo the tile and install on a proper substrate. It adds a day but saves the call-back.

Seams in wrong places

We place seams at logical break points (in sink cutouts, at corner changes, or at plumbing runs), not in the middle of a prep surface. Bad seam placement is a maintenance and aesthetic headache for decades.

Quote without seeing it

The numbers on this page are planning numbers from the room, for prefab quartz; other stones are quoted at the walkthrough. Brand availability, slab yield, edge profile, access, and current fabricator rates all move the number. You get a real quote after a real walkthrough.

Questions we get

Which material should I pick: quartz, granite, or marble?

About 90% of our installs are quartz for good reason: non-porous, never needs sealing, stain-resistant, and handles hard Bay Area water without etching. Granite is natural stone with unique slab-by-slab patterns and great heat tolerance. We install it when clients want real-stone character and are fine with occasional sealing. Marble is the most luxurious look with genuine veining but is porous and can etch on contact with acidic liquids: better for vanities and low-traffic surfaces than heavy-use kitchen islands. Quartzite is a rarer hybrid we also install. We walk through trade-offs at the walkthrough. No upsell, just honest talk about what fits your use case.

Do I need to remove my old countertops before you arrive?

No. Tearout, haul-away, and disposal of your existing countertops are included in every quote. We protect your cabinets, floors, and appliances with Ram Board and plastic during demo. Original hardwood floors and period detail do not deserve the Home Depot-crew treatment.

How long does the full template-to-install process take?

5 to 7 business days is standard. Day 1 is laser templating at your home (60 to 90 minutes). Fabrication runs 3 to 5 business days at the shop. Install day is 4 to 8 hours. Sink and faucet come back online about 24 hours later once the adhesive cures and we reconnect the plumbing. If you are adding a tile backsplash, add another 1 to 3 days of work.

Do you handle waterfall edges and mitered corners?

Yes. Waterfall edges, mitered corners, farmhouse sink cutouts, and custom edge profiles (eased / bevel / ogee / bullnose) all handled in-house via our fabricator partners. We walk through edge options at templating. Waterfall islands are an owner-occupied favorite for open-concept Bay Area kitchens.
